NOT Made for Death

NOT Made for Death

Have you ever witnessed death? As in, somebody dying in front of your eye? Many have. Last night, I joined those ranks. Not ranks I wanted to join, but no regrets that I did. My mom passed last night May 2, 2026 at 9:43 PM CT at my sisters home in Austin, TX. I drove down a week and a half ago because she informed me 2 weeks ago, she had Stage 4 Breast Cancer #cancersucks. She was diagnosed 4 years ago and was just now letting her family know. My dad passed 4 1/2 years ago from, what I believe, medical malpractice from COVID treatment. But I can't prove it because they wouldn't let any family near him.

Anyway, off topic a little. Something I've learned through my spiritual journey. When God created us, He made us holy, righteous, and ETERNAL! We were not made to die. We were not made to endure the pain, sorrow, heartache, or loss of death. Adam would still be alive today had he not sinned against God's command by eating the fruit.

The modern practice of "celebrations of life" actually make me sad. This is an extension of the Christian practice of "putting on a face and praising Jesus". Some think that we can't be sad because "we know where we're going". We can be sad...we can be angry...because we lost sometime in our sin. We lost that intimate relationship with our Creator. Yes, by our death we regain it, but we also lose our family. Those closest to us that have loved us through so much.

I know I am going to see my mom again. I know that we are going to both sit at our Savior's feet worshipping him for eternity. But I still mourn the loss of the woman that bore me, the woman that raised me, the woman that cried for me, and the woman that rejoiced with me! This is why Paul says, "we do not mourn as unbelievers."

Brothers and sisters, mourn for your loses. Grieve for those you lose, allow your self to cry and process your emotions. After all...Jesus did.
