Political Musings
I have, at different times, considered running for office, but I never followed up on it because of just general lack of knowledge about how the election system works and some knowledge of the work required to be elected. It's intrigued me in the past and maybe I will do it in the future, but it's not in the cards at this point in my life.
During my life I have had worked in the political sphere. When I was 15, I worked with Citizens Concerned for the Constitution. A homeschooling and parental rights lobbying organization run by Eric Miller in Indianapolis. It is now known as Advance America. I would do data entry and make copies of his speeches and broadcasts. We would send copies of those to donors or radio stations and they would air them. I would walk to the Indiana Courthouse and pick up copies of bills that he would read, analyze, and formulate an opinion on the benefits or detriments to Hoosiers and family rights. Advance America still operates!
Also, a couple years ago, I started working with the Convention of States grassroots movement started by Michael Farris and Mark Meckler. CoS was started to try to get the states to call a Article V convention of states for the purpose of limiting government, imposing term limits on elected federal officials, and fiscal contraints. I started as a local district representative when I lived in Colorado. I would make phone calls to people in my region that had submitted for information to the website.
My political opinions have changed quite a bit over the last few years as my theology has grown and deepened. I look forward to sharing how my politics have morphed over time.
